I don't have anything interesting to blog about lately, so I haven't really been blogging. I have the summer doldrums. I don't think I ever want to skip teaching in the summer again if possible. I have too much unstructured time. I don't do well with unstructured time.
I have spent my summer thus far focused on eating and going to the gym. I go to the YMCA almost every day to walk a mile. It is time for me to boost that up, though.
In the mean time, I have volunteered to lead a discussion for the One Book, One Community project, which is cosponsored by LSU, BRCC, Southern, the YWCA and some other organizations that I can't remember. So I have to read the book Breach of Faith, by Jed Horne. I listened to NPR's Fresh Air interview with Horne, which seems like a good introduction to the book.
Other than returning to the YWCA's Public Policy Committee, which has been good work, I have seen a ton of movies. I've seen Ratatouille, Transformers, Live Free or Die Hard, 1408, The Fantastic Four, Knocked Up, and Ocean's 13. Good summer movies all.

hey, glad to hear you're doing well (and are not sicko).
I love going to the Y--so much better than going to a regular gym. I go to the YWCA in St. Paul and am glad that my dues are going to an organization that is involved in anti-racist work. Plus the people are much nicer and the space is more pleasant than the horrible Bally's in my neighborhood.
In fact, I'm about to go right now...
Laura,
I am a Y girl myself. I go to A.C. Lewis at least 3 days a week at 9 a.m. Maybe we should walk together sometime.
Miss you.
Tracy
