Last three movies I saw from Netflix:
1. B13 -- a futuristic gangster pic made by Luc Besson. The fight and chase scenes were incredible. I highly recommend it.
2. Perfume: The story of a murderer -- Alan Rickman and Dustin Hoffman were excellent in this very bizarre pic.
3. Mysterious Skin -- The story of two boys who were molested by their baseball coach and the impact it had on their lives. Joseph Gordon-Levitt was wonderful as a teenage male prostitute.
Three disappointing bits of news heard over the past two weeks:
1. D&D 4.0. *Sigh*
2. BRCC travel money does not cover international travel.
3. My paycheck stub. Very disappointing.
Three things I need to do this weekend:
1. Finish _Breach of Faith_ so that I can facilitate the discussion on it on Thursday night for the One Book, One Community dialogue.
2. Laundry. Again. I really hate doing laundry.
3. I'm sure there's something else, I just can't think of it.
Three Gratitudes:
1. I am grateful for 3 day holiday weekends.
2. I am grateful that the niece is coming home this weekend for what she calls "extended" (i.e., the extended weekends that they get kicked out of the dorms and forced to visit their parents).
3. D&D on Saturday.

First Day of Class
Well, the first days of class went relatively smoothly. The main problem I experienced was parking. It took me an hour to find a parking place, and I'm not exaggerating. I had really bad luck. Cars would pull out of their spots after I passed them in the garage and there would be a long line of people tight on my rear so I couldn't back up to get the spot. Sigh. My bad luck.
I have met at least once with each class and they are all full of students. The 5-6 101 class had about half the students show up, which was predictable. The others are full to the gills.
I am using the contract grading method in 210 this semester, but I don't have hopes about its success. The students barely understood the concept of the contract. It took nearly the whole class period in both classes to explain it to them.
On another note, today I am not feeling grateful, so I will do my gratitudes.
1. The YMCA's indoor track. I still sweat from my 'powerwalk' (which is really just a stroll), but I'm not nearly as exhausted from it as I would be if I walked around the block. I love AC.
2. I am grateful for my highspeed internet access, which was down all day yesterday and all night last night. It finally came up again this morning. I'm such an addict. I really get frustrated and angry at the first tier of tech support as well. But, alas, this is about gratitudes and not about kvetching, so I'm grateful that my internet was restored finally.
3. I'm grateful for Crystal Light 'On the Go' packets. I've been drinking them by the score. They make water taste so good.

Ix'Chel
I ran into someone today online who goes by the handle Ixchel. Ixchel is the mayan moongoddess, which I have tattooed on my left forearm. But for some reason, this person didn't know about the name, so I did a quick google search and found a neat Wikipedia entry on it.
BRCC
BRCC is just a great place to work. People actually go out of their way to help you. I called public relations today about business cards. They said the order was sent out recently, and then without me even asking, they looked up the order to confirm my name was on the list. And on top of it, the woman was very nice. I sometimes can't get over how friendly and helpful everyone is there as compared to *coughLSUcough*.

Summer Goals Redux
1. I have made some progress cleaning out my home office. Much of it is dustable. I still have to deal with the junk on top of the filing cabinets.
2. I haven't done very much work on my courses, but I still have 2 weeks!
3. I've barely blogged this summer.
4. I've lost 30 pounds so far in 2 months. So, I'm making some headway in the diet realm. I'm still learning how to eat. I still throw up a lot from eating too much. I worry about getting enough protein and hydration. I still have to visit the nutritionist a couple of more times. But 30 POUNDS! That's exciting.
5. I've cleaned up the clutterspace on the table by the TV twice now, and it still gets cluttered. We really need a piece of furniture with drawers there so I can HIDE the clutter in the drawers.

Whoopie
Well, it's official. Whoopi Goldberg is the new co-host on The View. I'm very excited about this development.
